Race recap from The Dirt Nitro Challenge

Well we got the first race of the year out of the way. The 2006 Dirt Nitro Challenge held in Hemet, CA is now over. In 1/10 Pro Gas Truck we dominated qualifying by top qualifying (TQ) all three rounds. In Saturdays A Main I got off to a horrible start after being in a first lap may lay. In the first five minutes I was half a lap down to the leaders, but I knew if I kept my composure I could battle back through the pack. I made my way all the way back up to second and we were ecstatic.

Now for the big show ... 1/8 Pro Gas Buggy. Our week started off kind of rough in this class with our horrible luck in qualifying. I had a 30th, a 91st, and a 16th which put us starting 4th in the C Main or 26th qualifier. My awesome team had the car working great, even with the bad qualifying. We won the C Main and bumped our way up to the B Main where we would battle our way from 12th on the grid into the lead and take another win. Now starting 12th in the A Main we had our work cut out for us. I got a decent start and was on my way to the front. About fifteen minutes into the main we had gotten all the way up to second and we were catching the leader. A few minutes later I had a bad wreck off a huge double and the far end of the track. We had thought the car survived it, but only three laps later, being four seconds out of the lead, my front end was broken. We were out and finished 12th. The team was devastated, but not mad. We now are just even hungrier for the next race. I would like to thank all my sponsors for all their support: O'Donnell, Team Associated, GRP Tires, Futaba, J Concepts, MIP, Maxspeed Designs, The Dirt, Racersites.com, and JaredTebo.com.
